Facilities for Physical Activity in Keighley
Keighley has many facilities for sport and physical activity. These are under the jurisdiction of a variety of organisations in a number of sectors, and the advantage of the sportKeighley partnership approach is that all of these can be taken into account in a general mapping of facilities in the town. Neither should the natural facilities that surround us in Keighley be underestimated – the surrounding moors, fells and countryside are second-to-none worldwide as an outdoor playground, with access (usually free), to match!
The key link on this page is to the Sport England “Active Places†webpage, which includes an increasing number of local facilities.

Investment worth millions of pounds is being put into the creation and development of various facilities in the Keighley area: details of the various projects and their progress can be followed in the sportKeighley meeting notes. In addition, there are a number of mapping projects currently underway in Keighley and surrounding areas, including mapping of sport and physical activity facilities by Keighley & District Regeneration Alliance (KADRA).
The mapping will lead to an assessment of what is needed, what can be improved, and what can be adapted for particular needs. The opening up of all school premises out-of-school-hours and during holidays, for example, is a high priority for the sportKeighley partnership

sportKeighley Facilities Consultancy Brief
A strategic approach to planning for facilities in Keighley has long been a sportKeighley goal, as expressed in the sportKeighley Physical Activity Action Plan.
Events around Bronte School and its future, along with the moves to open up schools and their facilities and really develop much of the good work that has gone on already in Keighley has resulted in the development of a brief to consultants KKP (who are currently preparing Bradford Council’s PPG17 study).
